Located at 555 Mason Avenue, Coastal Baking has a fantastic lunch menu with a beautifully landscaped outdoor seating area. Open Wednesday-Sunday, they have a selection of sandwiches and hot dishes with a Cajun flare. New to their menu this year are fresh made salads. Don’t forget to pick up a sweet treat from Cassie’s wide array of bakery items and pasteries.

Cravings

Cravings might just be the best kept secret of Cape Charles’ lunches! This “to go” style shop is located inside Table in Tonic on Mason Avenue. Cravings is known for their fresh baked bread and yummy sandwich sauces, pizza Tuesdays, salads, and sides. Their offerings are perfect for a quick and portable lunch at the beach or park.

Kelly’s Gingernut Pub

Kelly’s is located in a historic bank building built in 1907. Best known for dinner and drinks but they offer a casual and kid friendly menu at lunch. You choose to eat in the old bank vault with lots of character or outside café style! Their menu has a wide selection of sandwiches, burgers, seafood options, and more. The She Crab soup is a must try on their menu!

Ambrogia Caffe and Enotecca

Ambrogia has an authentic Italian menu. At lunch they offer a variety of panini, all pressed and served warm, on their house bread, plus salads and boards. They serve focaccia farcita and an array of savory and sweet flatbread. They also have seasonal specials such as burrata and peaches, prosciutto and figs. Dine in or eat outside at Café tables under their unique roof awning.

The Bakery on Mason

Located on the corner of Strawberry Plaza, Mason Avenue Bakery, is known for fresh made sourdough and artisan loaves. They have created simple but delicious sandwiches made on their homemade bread and delicious sweet treats-but don’t wait too long, they sell out quickly!

Edible Picasso

Looking for a real treat? Try Edible Picasso, owned by the couple who brought Cape Charles Love + Rosemary catering! Lenore and Rocco’s artistic creations with food are truly impressive. Specializing in grazing boards, build your own chopped salads, paninis and homemade soups.

Deadrise Pies

Deadrise is known for it’s pizza menu and boasts of delicious and unique flavor combinations. Their indoor dinning area has been newly renovated and expanded or eat outside under the pergola. Order online and pick up a pizza or sandwich to go!

The Shanty

The Shanty is known throughout Virginia as the go to place for seafood and can be difficult to get a table in the evening during the height of the summer. It makes a perfect lunch spot with panoramic views of the Cape Charles Harbor and Chesapeake Bay. The casual indoor dining room can seat large groups and picnic style tables outside make a great place for families. Play cornhole while you wait or walk down to the harbor and check out the docked boats.

Salt and Sand

Located on Peach Street in-between Mason and Randolph, Salt and Sand makes a delicious casual lunch destination. Diner style menu with daily specials including seasonal local seafood.

The Oyster Farm

The Oyster Farm makes a great up-scale seafood option for dinner, but also offers lunch if you are in the mood for seafood. Drive down Fig Avenue toward the Marina to eat at this fabulous restaurant with a view!

The Almeta

Check out The Almeta, which is not just a coffee shop! Located inside Hotel Cape Charles for brunch and lunch options.

AJ’s Bar and Grill

AJ’s Bar and Grill is located in a historic building with a great atmosphere. Thursday-Sunday they offer lunch dining and drinks.

Food Trucks and Carts at the Beach

Before your week is up, be sure to catch lunch at a food truck or cart by the beach. Dogs by the Bay is a regular with hot dogs and drinks sold out of a golf cart or try Smashers Burgers and Fries food truck. Shaved ice from Peach Beach Shaved Ice Shack and Italian Ice from Tropi-Cool and new this summer, Creamers Ice Cream, make the perfect after lunch treat!

The Northampton Hotel

This boutique hotel was built in the early 1900’s and lovingly restored to its former glory with modern amenities. It boasts of a café open to the public with a brunch and lunch menu. Enjoy a delicious cocktail with your lunch while admiring the view.

Rayfield’s Pharmacy

If you are in the mood for a juicy burger or club sandwich with an old timey diner experience, then head to Rayfield’s for lunch! Located inside the Rayfield’s Pharmacy, it is complete with a jute box and old fashioned lunch counter. Rumor has it they have the best cheese burger in town! When you eat there, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped back in time.

Beach Market

As you leave Town, you’ll pass the Beach Market. They have a wide array of fresh sandwiches and salads plus seasonal seafood steamed to order. You can pick up your Boarshead sandwich meat and cheese from their onsite deli.

Cape Charles Brewing Company

Right before you leave the city limits of Cape Charles (just steps from the Beach Market), you’ll notice the Cape Charles Brewing Company. Drive there in your golf cart (or car) and enjoy craft beers and burgers. There is ample indoor seating but their outdoor area has plenty of picnic tables and large yard games for the kids.

Small’s BBQ

Right outside of town on Lankford Highway heading south is the newest edition to Cape Charles dinning-Small’s BBQ! Small’s has extensive outdoor and indoor dining with a reasonably priced lunch menu-their seasoned fries are the best!

* Always check hours of operation to make sure your destination is open. Many businesses in Cape Charles have alternate off season hours.
