Meet Phillip and Jordan

In 2013, after we accidentally discovered Cape Charles, we started vacationing with our family and friends every fall. It didn’t take long before we were on the lookout for a home, even if we thought it was a far off dream. After finding a great deal on a dilapidated home in 2016, we partnered with our family and dear friends and bought The Grand Escape to use as a vacation rental. Our family was also featured on HGTV’s Beach Front Bargain Hunt, Down by The Chesapeake that same year (as with HGTV shows, it is only half the story!). We were perfectly happy with our lives in the Hampton Roads area, but in 2016, after Phillip’s family business closed after 60 years, we found ourselves looking for a new start. Within 2 years, we moved full-time to Cape Charles and bought a second vacation home (The Sweet Retreat) and opened Cape Charles Candy Company. With a lot of hard work and sweat equity we were able to make Cape Charles our home with our three children. In 2021 we expanded and opened Red Truck Candy Company located at the Norfolk Outlets. Jordan stays busy with homeschooling, gardening, running the candy store in Cape Charles, and leading a homeschool group on the Eastern Shore called Classical Conversations. Phillip works full time and runs the multiple businesses and enjoys fixing up his 1947 International pick-up truck in his spare time.
